Look at fourth gen. Most powerful pokemon (discounting legends) released then? Garchomp. 130 base attack. But now that's just sort of average.
Gen 5, we got weather abilities on non-ubers. We got speed boost Blaziken, we got Genies, the Musketeers, Shadow Tag on something with an actual movepool, Sand Rush Excadrill, Prankster, etc. etc.
Gen 6? Mega Evos are not power creep? Things that not only have base attacks in excessive of 160, but are also bulky AND fast and have abilities that boost their damage further? Mega mom, with effective 105/213/100/111/100/100 stats? Mega Mawile, with 259 base attack? And the only consolation is that you only get one per team, while we also got Aegislash, Protean Greninja, Knock Off buff, etc?
None of this screams power creep?
