A few years ago, can't remember if it was Tumblr or some other forum, I remember reading a huge rant some girl made on how it made her mad on how her male pokémon with Attract couldn't charm other males and how the Daycare says that same-gender pokémon doesn't go well with each other.

I know about sexual dimorphism, as I'm a human. OP said "each pokemon," including things that aren't.
I assumed he meant only for things that aren't sexually dimorphic because things that already are sexually dimorphic already have gender differences in pokemon.

Yes, the point of contention here is the people who specifically want their male characters to crossdress instead of just playing the girl character. You can't simultaneously stand against gender stereotypes while also defining your own image by them, it's the most hypocritical shit ever.

Shit, that reminds me of the scifi version of this, where at some point in the future humans evolve to have extra genders for no reason. Have you seen Knights of Sidonia? In that series humans gain the ability to photosynthesize, which is at least interesting and makes a lot of sense from a survival perspective in their position, but they also come to have a third gender which can at any point choose to take the role of male or female, which serves absolutely no useful biological function for intelligent, social animals with able bodies and senses that are basically cramped in a sardine can with nothing better to do than fuck. Literally the only purpose for this development is the perverted nature of it and it feels pushed and nonsensical and just to appeal to fetishists.

i'm pretty sure were on the same side here. If your transgender you have to kinda believe in gender roles. I know for me and a lot of trans people gender roles and transitioning helps ease the pain of haveing a fucked up body image.

Can you tell a dog or cat's sex just by looking at them and not their genitalia? Why the fuck would pokemon be different? Obviously, there are real life examples of Sexual dimorphism, such as a lot of birds. It'd be silly if all pokemon you could tell at a glance though.

The only real purpose of such an adaptation would be for organisms that can't actively or reliably find something of the opposite sex to pair with. That's the case for nearly all hermaphroditic and gender switching creatures.

Yes but then again they're fucking animals. Even with personalities, gay relationship in the animal kingdom's doesn't serve an evolutionary difference, they only do it for pleasure or whatever. It wouldn't effect the fact that males and females would probably look different.

Anything with three colors (like torties or calicos) because the fur color is linked to X chromosome. If you have a male tortoiseshell or calico, it's not a true male and is probably XXY or something. I think it's something like single coat patterns (like pure black/white) is a male cat three out of four times, if my memory isn't failing me.

But even this would extremely annoying to implement, and is still not true of all species.

On the other hand, in most cases it superfluous. Now, one thing I'd like is level reflecting age, so you can have really tiny cute evolved and legendary pokemon and really bulky NFE pokemon. That'd be cool.
