How hard is it to do the following on a DS Rom hack?

>change pokemon to fakemon
>change movesets
>change types
ideally, add Fairy-type in place of ???-type

These don't seem like massive changes, but ones that could make a playthrough hugely different. Why don't we see more of them?

It might be possible to replace existing Pokemon with Fakemon (Through vigorous sprite hacking), not sure about actually ADDING a Pokemon to the game.
With PPRE, it's possible to change a Pokemon's data entirely, including name, type, moves, and even Pokedex descriptions.
It's impossible to add or replace types at this point in DS hacking.
If you are experienced enough with 3D modeling, you can make entirely custom maps with SDSME, but only if you know what you are doing.

Could you, for example, change the ???-type to have Fairy's weaknesses/resistances/immunity? It wouldn't involve adding a type - just tweaking it.

I don't think it's even possible to tweak the types like that unless you know exactly where type data is located and how ti change it, no one does at this point

It's not hard, mostly tedious. There are tools to do almost everything of that nature on DPPt and probably HGSS as well. There's a tutorial to change the ??? to Fairy, though it requires some mucking about in a hex editor. BW or BW2, not completely possible. You can probably insert new sprites in to gen 5 games but I'm not sure how it'd work, especially with all the moving parts, and it's unknown as of this time how to insert a new type.

I could do it with gen 4 but there'd be, what, 3 people that would play a version with only the fakemon?
