Yes it was, but that concept was completely overhauled. It's not like they stuck with it but decided it's also dark and evil and slapped dark type on it instead. Everything metal, mechanical, and steel type about it is completely gone, so you'd be retarded to think they'd give it a mega that's functionally an entirely different pokemon.
