Aurorus needs someway to circumvent it's fragile typing. Solid Rock would've been good or something. Heck, even give it awesome defenses too. Really wish it got Power Gem.

Aerodactyl is based off of pterosaurs. Pterosaurs, despite what you might think, aren't actually dinosaurs - they're flying reptiles, and share an ancestry quite different from both the saurischian and ornithischian clades that dinosaurs (as we define them) belong to.

Ice needs a buff imo. I'm tired off Ice Pokemon constantly being regarded as unviable but I suppose this is to be expected of a game not originally meant to be hyper competitive.

How about: Ice resists Dragon and Water, while gaining an immunity to itself? He'll be neutral to Surf/Waterfall and can switch into a Dragon move. Not amazing, but slightly better.

If only they had really let one of its stats excel aside from HP. If it had passable special attack (as in something like 120 or greater) then running a Scarf or Rock Polish wouldn't be a problem. Honestly, they really gave it too much attack.

Froslass is nice because it isn't weak to Fighting and the priority moves associated with it. That alone is a huge boon. But that enough doesn't make an Ice-type good. If it's outsped, it becomes dead weight fairly quickly.

Everyone thinks they know their dinosaurs, but most of their "knowledge" comes from Jurassic Park. People STILL talk about brontosaurus all the time, even though it's been more than 100 years since scientists realized it was a specimen fuck-up. The public perception of dinosaurs is mostly out-of-date and full of straight misinformation. Jurassic World isn't gonna help things since they're willfully ignoring science and saying "fuck feathers, scales look cooler" instead of taking the chance to terrify people with accurate, feathered dinos. Feathers don't mean big chicken, they mean giant terrestrial hawk with razor blades everywhere. It'll probably still be a fun movie, but the intentional avoidance of a more accurate depiction upsets me.

Also I got a piece of amber with a Dipteran (fly/mosquito) when I graduated with an Evolutionary Biology degree. Can I get my Aerodactyl, now?

But I thought that the dinos in the JP series were genetically enineered things they had got from combining reminent diosaur dna with, for some unknown reason, frogs. The frog thing is an important plot point as the frog they used is able to change sex which means it's dna enables the raptors breed, getting around the "all dinosaurs in Jurassic park are female" fail-safe.

Who ever heard of a frog with feathers?

As long as there are no dinosauroids ( http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/tetrapod-zoology/2012/10/27/dinosauroids-revisited-revisited/ ) it might be good fun.

They were releasing teaser images with old signs from the park in JP1 overgrown with vines and weathered, which was meant to make you hark back to the first film rather than the abysmal second one (the second book however was quite good) so my hopes are still high enough to be horrifically dashed.

Not a ruse, I was in the Ecology and Evolutionary Bio department/concentration at university. Lots of great classes and museum trips. The amber was a gift from my parents.

Aerodactyl has always been one of my favorite Pokemon, too. Still waiting for good Tough Claws STAB, though.

That kinda makes sense now that I think of it. In 3 the raptors have grown some of their feathers back, and since it happens a long time after the previous films, I can imagine it being the result of a few generations of natural breeding from the raptors. As if their original genes slowly override the artificially implanted ones.

Aerodactyl is ALWAYS behind the ball on getting moves. It didn't get Earthquake in Gen 1 and didn't learn Rock Slide until Gen 3 unless you were Lance. I'm not surprised it still hasn't gotten Brave Bird or Head Smash, but hopefully they will come someday. Megadactyl is pretty great, and either of those would be huge for it.

Gen 1 Dactyl with Rock Slide and Earthquake would've been scary. That speed and crit ratio...
