It would be nice if Gamefreak made a rival that was actually opposed to you again. Doesn't have to be a dick like Green or Silver but I can do without the childhood friends and cocksucking cheerleaders. XY really took it to an extreme.

Calem/Serena were rivals, very bad ones, but rivals nonetheless, Hue doesn't even have to specifically come with you, or you know... MAKE YOU WAIT IN FRONT OF THE FUCKING GYM BECAUSE YOU CAN'T PROCEED TO KICK SOME PLASMA ASS UNTIL YOU GET THE BADGE. He's more an abstacle than a rival

Well we had worse but he was still shit compared to Silver or Gary/Blue/Green. In my opinion a rival needs to have one mission and one mission only: To oppose and fuck you up were ever he can. Badass Blue pissing in your face every time you see him with smug comments about how you suck or fucking rouge ass Silver, stealing Pokemon left and right just to buff up, those were real rivals.

Gen 3's Wally had at least an interesting personality and backstory to offer, with his sickness and change he made through. Barry was this autistic child but the story from Gen.4 kinda made up for that, they integrated him pretty well. Gen 6 was were it was at it's worst.

At least Hugh unleashed his rage but he still sucked your cock were ever he could and his plot was just terrible. His anger would've been justified if Plasma would have raped his sister or something. But yeah, muh cat.
