I suppose to be more specific, I don't like its portrayal in Smash. It annoys me enough to avoid using it. In pokemon it's still the same old Greninja that I like.

In my mind, pokemon's appearance in smash is somehow psychologically separate from their real life versions. I think pickachu and luke are cool and fun in smash, but when I see them on /vp/ or in the game or something I'm pretty neutral

Mega Sceptile can only revenge kill, though, since you really can't switch into Ice Beam or Gunk Shot.

Thundurus would've gotten a test if it weren't for ORAS being announced. No point doing those when a bunch of big players are going to be joining the tier before the end of the year. Once ORAS is out, though, I wouldn't be surprised to see Thundy get a closer look even before Greninja's reckoning.

It's been S-rank for a few months now, mostly thanks to the added utility of Spikes. There aren't many hazard removers that want to switch into Greninja's attacks, and using Spikes lets it take out Thundurus with ease..

Really? It seems like it 4mss hurts it too much, and it doesn't have insane stats like Aegislash to fall back on

Gunk Shot is the most powerful move Greninja should ever bother using, assuming equal offensive investment.
In any event, you run it like you run Dark Pulse or Extrasensory or Grass Knot or HP Fire or any other STAB that isn't mandatory like Ice Beam.

All of those moves atomize Mega Sceptile if it tries to switch in.

All of those moves tear apart any Sceptile switch-in that hasn't Mega Evolved yet.

Basically, if a Greninja user sees Sceptile in Team Preview, all they need to do is avoid using Water-type moves to fuck over any and all attempts to switch in Green Nargacuga.
