But of course. Genwunners died out a long time ago.
The only good first gen Pokémon were Gyarados, Vileplume, Marowak, Gengar and Scyther. All others are crap. No exceptions.

of course genwun is going to be the worst mechanically when every gen tries to improve upon the series

however I don't think its the worst when it comes to the general plot and (on average) pokemon designs

I miss all the bugs in gen I, mostly the fuck around ones like mystery islands, 99 masterballs, missingno and stuff.

They were perfect at the time.

I'm learning how to program, and now I can see that what they managed to do is absolutely incredible given what they were working with.

We look at classical art and think, "Wow, how did they do all of that without tools like we have today?" The original Pokemon games will be looked at the same way someday.

Every pokémon game has those. So if we ignore that common trait then we have Gen 1 is easily one of the best.

And on the matter of glitches and bad mechanics they have only improved over the years whereas in gen 1 many other RPGs did them better.
There's no reason why anyone should call them one of the best.
