Rock as a type needs a buff. The only type that suffers more is Ice, and at least they get reliable STABs.

It wasn't a matter of gitting gud, when your movepool at lv. 50 are three fucking grass moves and a shitty normal one that pokémon has serious problems. And I said I've struggled at using it, not completing the game. Basically I've never used it that much after the third gym.

They gave it Contrary. That's fucking amazing for a Grass type, which usually get shit all. Sure it has no coverage, but again, Grass type.

Sceptile got two useless abilities and a useless mega while receiving no new moves that matter since Leaf Storm. Meanwhile Greninja does everything it does better.

I don't understand why people want Tyrantrum's HA so badly. It means it can use Head Smash. Big deal. Anything that resists rock will take a bit of a hit, sure, but Strong Jaw boosted bite moves give him a wide variety of choices to OHKO so many things.

What about in situations where Rock is resisted by the opponent? Any earth or steel type will shrug it off since they typically are quite bulky to begin with, but a strong jaw ice fang or fire fang would do the job

Sceptile is mediocre as far as megas go sure, but it's in no way as useless as you're implying it to be.

It also got Quick Guard for ORAS. It's something. Helps nicely against Ice Sharts and Brave Birds.

Huge Power would make it a crazy mixed attacker.

Blaziken gets Speed Boost and Swampert gets Swift Swim, I don't think it's too out of line to give Sceptile a powerful ability, especially since Grass is the worst type out of the three.

As for dragonbreath it was an example of what else could be boosted, not one that people should use. Unless sheer force boosts it to 90, where it would actually outclass dragon pulse.

I don't even use sceptile, my team has enough ice weaknesses

One of these days my autism is going to get the best of me and I'll weight these scores by how good each type actually is on offense. Top 6 are worth 1.5, middle 6 are worth 1, bottom 6 are worth 0.5. Resisting Poison while being weak to Ground is far, far worse than the other way around.

It's abysmal on a slow, defensive Pokemon.
That's not to say it couldn't work on a fast, offensive Pokemon, especially with the right moves and abilities.

Aurorus is basically the worst they could've done with the worst defensive type combo.

On the other end strong jaw isn't a big enough threat to anyone really and doesn't make up for his bad typing. And he doesn't even get stab with it...

That's why you give it a high Attack stat and Ice Shard to fend off Breloom, and you dutifully switch it out of Scizor.

It might be neat to have a pair of "Antipode" moves, a Fire-typed one that deals Ice-type damage and an Ice-typed one that deals Fire-type damage.

Also, any fast sweeper with only 100 base speed is mediocre. Neither of its megas got ANY speed boost, but both had irrelevent attack gains. ZardX got SpA raise of 21 points (could have at least put like 6 into speed) and ZardY got a regular attack boost of 20.

Ice Beam. Ice Shard won't counter Megamence. But look at MegaGengar, it's total shit and it was banned to Ubers where it's even more shit because "muh trapped". And regular Blaziken got banned to Ubers where it can't hold its own, along with Aegislash. And Aegislash is arguably one of the best Pokemon in the game as it requires proper predictions to play properly.

40 x 4 = 160. Ice Shard hits harder than Earthquake (assuming Sally lost its immunity somehow, like Roost or something. Which goes after Ice Shard would except on Talonflame)

Hit it with a fucking Earthquake all you like, its not going to do shit. Neutral STAB EQ = 150 BP
HP Fire = 240 BP
Which is why even shitty fire moves murder it.
No one expects Pokemon to survive hits from STAB x4 weaknesses, but when something can survive the strongest priority move its x4 weak to and OHKO the user in return, when said user is actually rather bulky, thats really fucking impressive and speaks volumes about what else it can do. The only Ice Beam user that can safely hit it is Froslass, assuming it hasn't gone mega yet. But thats never going to happen

Remove Ice typing, add Fairy. Bump defense up by 20 and spdef up by 25. Lower attack by 20 and bump spatk up by 30. Give access to rocks, add fairy moves. Give access to lightscreen/reflect. Give access to acid armor and baton pass. Give access to wish and healing wish. Give access to heal bell. Give access to calm mind.

This would make him a somewhat decent tank.

Honestly Refrigerate Mega Lapras could be fan-fucking-tastic. Especially if they buffed its stats exactly like Glalie's.

I sorta wanted to see Drizzle Mega Lapras come to pass, but Refrigerate could be very interesting. Either one would be almost certain to make OU.

And I forgot that Lapras has Drill Run, which can make up for the lack of EQ.

If you want an offensive bulky water, gyarados is better for that. Lapras is meant to be a bulky tank, but just can't do it due to shit movepool, ice type (ice tanks never work), and lack of recovery.

No, Ice is a fantastic OFFENSIVE type that's tossed on a fuckload of DEFENSIVE Pokemon. THAT is the absolute biggest reason why Ice sucks as hard as it does. Mamoswine and Weavile are really the only Ice-types they've made to be serious offensive threats, and even then Weavile has shit for coverage so it's stuck in BL. There's also the Kyurems, but only White got all of the moves it needed to be good. Give Blakrem Icicle Crash + Erfcake and it pounds its way back to Ubers. Lapras has a pretty good offensive movepool, Ice Shard for Priority, and Dragon Dance for boostan; had it been given something like 105 base Attack and 80 base Speed or a reliable recovery move it would've made waves in UU at least.
Mega Lapras. 130/125/85/125/95/80 @ Refrigerate. DD/Body Slam or Return/Drill Run/Waterfall or Ice Shard. Hyper Voice/Freeze Dry/Hydro Pump/Filler.

There are sub base-500 stat pokemon that are good. Most "good" pokemon wouldn't be good anymore if you gave them ice typing.

On the other hand, you can have pokemon that don't have great stat distribution still be viable as long as their typing and ability are good. This is not true for an ice type. Ice type is a worse type.
