I have a Latias I had in Emerald who's moveset was tailored entirely for cute contests. The only attacking move she does have is Return, and it was because it could be repeated without a penalty.
Not only that but contests were diverse, you didn't always get the same people and you had to plan how to rack up the points for yourself, or if someone else theoretically wins the audience bonus, to screw them horribly with a move that will make their Pokemon mess up.
