Gamefreak isn't going to patch matter whether any of us buy ORAS or not. It's not a matter of "allowing" them to do anything.

If ORAS is patched people will walk over GF and demand the same causing a decline in sales pretty quickly.
If you don't buy ORAS they'll think people are beginning to lose interest in pokemon and change it drastically.

Either way I win and everyone else loses because I get to play a fun game.

I get well over $40 of value and a ridiculous $ to hour ratio on every Pokemon game I buy (and I buy both in each set).

Not really. I may hate 90% of pokemon desings, all but one gen, the terrible fan base, the games themselves but dammit I love the series itself. I'm also a masochist so that may have something to do with it
