Fuck protean, but yes. A normal Eeveelution needs to happen. And like, a standard one too. No stones, not level at certain places, no special friendship levels. Eevee hits level 50 or whatever and it becomes this. Only Eeveelution with a real stat buff too, other than how the others just keep swapping numbers amongst their stats.

130/95/65/65/110/60 is a combination that hasn't been used yet and aligns well with what normal types typically are.
Ability: Adaptability (carry over from Eevee)
HA: Simple (because compared to the other Eeveelutions, this one is)

Simple would abuse Curse: netting a +2 to attack and defense each turn at the cost of -2 Speed, patching up its low Defense.

Except Protean is just the English term. The original Japanese translates to something like Phantasmagoria. Kecleon gets Phantasmagoria because its color change is basically an illusion, and Greninja is, well, a ninja.

Or maybe an ability that changes your type depending on the weather, like water when it's raining, fire with sunny day, ice when it's snowing and ground when there's a sandstorm.

I'd give it Fur Coat and Extreme Speed.
Make it basically a Furfroa that give up some defences for offence, so maybe no Cotton Guard but it can learn SD, Extremespeed, knock off.

Or make it more support moves but no Cotton Guard, maybe T-wave, will-o-wisp, toxic, etc.

That's basically Forecast.

All of Eevee's evolutions have been about responding to a certain stimulus which pushes it in a new direction. It would depend on the concept behind a Normal-type Eevee evolution. An elementally unstable evo that is able to harness all types would be fitting for Protean (though it still runs into the problem of >>21553296), but an evo that has Eevee as settling down into an elementally neutral type, responding to nothing but Eevee's default life cycle, is better for something like Adaptibility or Fur Coat.

Eevee needs an evolution for each type, so I'm all for Eeveon. While Protean is a cool ability for it, I feel like it would make more sense if it had Adaptability or Technician.

What would a ghost type Eeveelution look like?
