>>21581111Why not instead of IV's, give every Pokemon a potential? Maximum potential is 186, and this would be hidden. Then, as the Pokemon levels up, you have the option to allocate "potential" points to stats that do the same thing as IV's up to a maximum of 31, with the full potential being available by level 100 (or level 50 or something).
It keeps the idea that some Pokemon are inherently stronger than other Pokemon from birth, and potential can be genetic. But it also gives you more control over your "IV"s so you can try out different distributions. Obviously there would be competitive builds, but it would be an easy way for the third grader who wants his Blaziken to be "super defensive" to see his contribution to Blaziken's defense, and it would be easier for competitive/semi-competitive players to at least optimize a few stats.
A "potential guild" would need to exist, housing the judge, someone who will reset the potential points allocation for a fee/item, and possibly someone who can improve potential through training/fee/item
and hidden power dude/dudette. Oval Stone could maybe get an overhaul to make it so hatched and encountered wild Pokemon will have higher average potentials, and legendary/genderless Pokemon could have a minimum of 93. Just an idea I've been thinking of. What are peoples' thoughts?
