i.e. if you are trying to catch something in the friend safari for hidden abilities to pass down and the gender ratio is 87.5% male, that means there are 7 males for every 1 female that you encounter

if you lead the party with a male sylveon with cute charm, the gender ratio will be 2 females for each male regardless of what they are supposed to be naturally

Basically, if your first Pokemon has cute charm, the opposing Pokemon's gender ratio is now 66% chance to be the opposite gender regardless of what its own gender ratio is.
I haven't played X in a while, but I forgot how easy my Sylveon made it to catch females for breeding.
