No matter what I do or who I use, I just get my shit stomped time and time again whenever I use Trick Room. I don't know if it just doesn't last long enough or if I'm not using strong enough mons; i've tried nearly everything, shit still bombs on me

My last hope is aromatisse, I hear it's the best setter yet; hate it though, design is unsettling

It's bad in singles because unless it is an offensive trick room setter (like Chandelure) or a suicide lead (like Explosion Gourgeist) you waste turn switching out. It's much better in doubles.

It's okayish in OU because Gren both lays spikes and beats like almost every defogger 1v1. It was especially good when Deoxys was around because of turbo fast taunt and having both hazards, plus Bisharp gets a defiant boost from defog while simultaneously appreciating hazards since a lot of its checks are grounded. You could also run Pinsir on top of Deosharp since Pinsir's checks are all floating and don't care about spikes, while Pinsir himself hates hazards. It basically made defogging and not defogging an almost lose/lose decision that was difficult to play around.

I've never been able to run a good Baton Passs team, even though I think the strategy is damn cool. Same goes for Trick Room. I've gotten Rain, Drought, Stall, and Mono-Psychic to work sort of well, though. I'm sub 1500 scum, though, so I'm not exactly good.

Lol its hilarious to baton pass when your good at prediction. Scolipede is expected to protect turn 1 so I can either set up a swords dance or a sub. I swept this guy with a breloom because he couldn't predict my protects and I ended up with 3 swords dances. It helps to know what your main passer can and can't handle, defense wise. I usually pass into something with a priority move, since smogonbird is abound, it can wreck your frail shit.

I've tried every style of play except full stall teams, I'll never lower myself to that, studied at Smogon, had my teams rated, even just used copypaste teams a few times, and I've never broken out of 1500. Only time I've gotten close was with a gimmicky luck team consisting of sets like Citizen Snips, and luck has turned against me because I haven't been able to replicate getting that high.

I should just sudoku, I'll never git gud no matter how hard I try.

The thing about Trick Room is a little goes a long way. Like, don't get me wrong, it's still too short. But using full (or even mostly) TR 'mons on a singles team is basically thankless in Priority: the Meta.

Use a only one or two bulky TR setters that can tank hits and possibly one TR sweeper with a good priority move and just regular fastmons in the rest of your team and it's at least more fun to play even if it doesn't get you higher on showdown ratings.

Man, weather is completely dead for singles now.

The only set I have a reliable 10:1 w/l ratio with in OU is a phazing centric team with some momentum. HO sets, setup sweepers and BP teams gives me a feeling of lack of control. When things start to spiral downards with those kinds of sets there's like, no recovery unless the opponent is abolute shit.

With stall i either fuck up in 10 turns or get bored, with baton pass the pokemon i pass the boosts to dies in a single hit after 2 turns because even at +2 its not strong enough to kill anything, and yes i have tried WP dragonite+4 attacks, it still doesnt work

Get a 2DS then. Same system, just no 3D (which sucks anyway for pokémon games).
Also, a 2DS is more durable. (dropping it a few times won't do as much harm like when dropping a 3DS)

Dragonite never seems to work well for me. One DD, a dragon claw and then an e-speed and still doesn't OHKO very many commonly used pokemon
stealth rocks seem like a waste of time when I use them, usually the turn putting them on the field is a huge waste and puts me at a disadvantage while also forcing me to use whichever shitty pokemon actually gets stealth rock putting me at another disadvantage
