I just want to give Best Wishes some credit.

The absolute best thing they did was how they handled team rocket. It was amazing not having those annoying shits in EVERY SINGLE FUCKING episode trying to catch a fucking wurmple or some useless shit.

I also liked them being more serious and competent, but I guess I'm in the minority there as people just want more whacky "blasting off again" every episode

I'm 10 episodes in and so far it's not as bad as Black and White. I get less of a first day on the job feel from ash this time around. Does it stay like this? Does Ash actually remain above retard levels of intelligence this gen?

he's slightly more competent, but the anime will always be shit regardless of how competent ash becomes. It's always just going to be a filler episode featuring the pokemon of the week with annoying new characters taking up the whole episode who we will never see again, punctuated by very rare gym battles

From what I hear he actually does. In my lersonal opinion, XY is a nice guilty pleasure, but I mostly watch it for the waifu COTDs.
