>>21600307>I sorta get a "jumped the shark" vibe from the whole idea of mega evolution in Pokemon.Yeah me too, and with XY in general, things like the difficulty and shinys being easier to find now. I see similarities with World of Warcraft, everything being more casualized. The developers have put things in that provide more short term satisfaction, like megas and more shinys, and ignoring the possible long term effects it could have on the franchise.
For a moment people will oo and aa over the cool new evolution feature. But what happens when it's not new anymore and in gen8, we're still pushing that button and watching an animation to get our Pokemon to it's capable form? When megas are fully whored out, will they still be enjoyable? My guess is no and in fact they are already getting a bit tiresome in some respects.
I feel the Mega Ring should've been, even in XY, relegated to an endgame quest. I understand it's the "cool" new feature they want to promote but the interesting thing with Megas is the fact that you can only have one at a time, so you have to choose which one to put on your team. It's something that affects endgame team building, not something that adds to the single player experience where I'm running around with derps and don't even have access to the full mega roster. In the single player I felt their impact was almost entirely negative. It only comes down to choosing the starter or Lucario and you can pretty much use both anyway if you want, barely any fights(if any at all) will push you to the point of having your full party, so you can easily use both.
