In reality, this is because Pokemon's target audience is 8-14 year olds, +/- some years for those with autism, and those who play competitive Pokemon are like 16-mid 20s and take it really seriously.

The overwhelming majority of people I've met at tournaments have been awesome people. Some of the top (and bottom) players can be rude, but for the most part Pokemon players are a cool bunch.

It's the most fun way to play. Doubles with 4 pokemon is really underwhelming, and singles with six makes every battle feel like a champ battle. I don't think pure stalling has worked since gen 2 anyway.

Most competitive players don't care about items if you're having fun.

Just don't try to say that you should use items in a competitive format, because that's retarded for a variety of reasons.

It's like, feel free to have fun using the Wonder Launcher among your friends. But don't be an idiot and think that the Wonder Launcher should be used in VGC or something.

Now that you have 30 secs to run your prediction machine it's pretty stressful too.

3 vs 3 singles though feels really underwhelming. I think 6 vs 6 is the best for singles, otherwise you can't come up with a proper team. Meanwhile a smaller choice helps VGC because you work on a smaller core and since you will have at least two matches it lets you have two strategies so you can keep the surprise factor.

6v6 is a lot more fun than 3v3 in my opinion. I wish they let battle spot have a 6v6 option. With only 3 pokemon to choose, it can make a battle completely one sided, especially if you guess wrong on which pokemon your opponent starts with. There's not much room for strategy with only 3 pokemon. hat's why most people just bring in their 3 fastest sweepers constantly. It's all you can really do
