Gyarados on the other hand is based on a carp that jumped a waterfall and became a dragon but it was a bad dragon, so it simply became a flying dragon-ish serpent (hence no Dragon, not even when Mega) and it shares a lot of elements from Magikarp, like the lips, the whiskers, and the fins
