Let's gather facts:
1. That "Abandoned Ship" is clearly not a ship anymore, but some kind of ruined oil platform - it has the "legs" of a platform
2. Its exterior looks very similar to the walls of Mauville
3. Judging from the map, it has similar "towers" to those atop Mauville.
4. A Scientist NPC mentions the Scanner being in Sea Mauville (in RSE the Scanner was in Abandoned Ship) - and this is actually the strongest proof, as it comes from the demo gameplay, not from datamining.
5. There's no header for Abandoned Ship and no mention of it in the demo text whatsoever.
The indications are strong that the Abandoned Ship has indeed been retconned to become Sea Mauville. Also, there's no other candidate for this - the island near Mauville is obviously empty, as shown by the map and soaring screenshots. So, stop being in denial.
