Yuma is outright going to dueling school because he doesn't fucking know how to play the game. Somewhere in the first 20 episodes he loses like 30 times in a row to some nigga, and he's one of the few protags who just loses a bunch of the time to random characters of the day for no reason. He only gits gud later because of space magic and cheating.
Yugi got gud on his own before Antem came in and gave him heart of the cards deck manipulation.
Yusei was great even before crimson signer dragon nonsense, there's a scene of him seeing the combo pieces for a winning combination in one of the early episodes that really gets me. His deckbuilding is actually competent too, his deck is one of the only ones you can actually play.
Jaden is sort of the same. Nigga's good at card games, he's the only one without plot armor actually. Yubel just like makes him half transvestite demon. It doesn't even actually help him in dueling.
I'd say without plot armor it's something like
Jaden>=Yusei>Yugi>Yuma
With it
Yuma>Yugi>=Yusei>Jaden
