VGC 101
Teambuild around a mega. Your aim is to destroy your opponent before he can do the same to you, so you want to use the strongest things you can. Don't use it like some gimmicky shit nor for fun. It's your ultimate weapon meant to shatter your opponent's rear like you was shrek
Read up Nugget Bridge's articles. They talk about Fake Out, Momentum, Team Preview, team archetypes, everything you need to at least have heard about to get decently good at the metagame.
Use the move protect in at least half your Pokémon, unless you can't give up your moveslot or you have some kind of plan.
SPEED CONTROL. You want Trick Room, Tailwind, or Thunder Wave in your team. You can't survive without any means to control speed.
EVs. They are tricky. You will have to calculate evs and EV your mons for highly specific purposes depending on the needs of your team and the meta. Forget about 252/252/4 spreads, they are for fags.
Weather, specifically rain, is a consistent threat for years to come by so if you neglect it it'll cost you tournaments.
Predictions. You will need to learn to do predictions depending not only on the field, but also on how much you know about the opponent and about what you've shown to him. In this format, he doesn't know what you've got in the back neither you know what your opponent's got on you, so watch out.
