Every Kalos route was almost the same, only with some minor gimmicks changed. At the same time there were slmost no obstacles or puzzles in the entire game and every single fight was laughably easy (abd I was simultaneously raising 12 pokemon so I wasn't overleveled).
They let you see a lot of cool stuff, nice additions and catch a shitload of Pokemon but at the hour of truth XY was immensely underwhelming.
On the other hand ORAS could be the greatest installment yet.
Also, before you attribute my praise of Hoenn to nostalgia, my first game was Blue.
