I was convinced that Fairy would be localised as Light for a while.
I just thought it was the sort of thing America would do, deciding Fairy sounds too girly and they'd have to change it to make it more appealing to boys, with Light being the most obvious thing to call it.

Because it isn't literally Dark as in "this cave is dark". It's more like "that is a dark mindset". The best way to describe it is Mean type, really.

So for a Light type to make any sense it would have to be Happy or Nice type, which is basically Fairy.
