Of course HGSS had the Suicune quest, a Battle Tower (as well as a whole Frontier to boot), and other Crystal features, so that too is not necessarily a strike against it.

And again, HGSS had rematches anyway, and we've got datamined data about Wallace, but not anyone else.
So, again, we know jack shit officially. And have good indications for both sides. No one's gonna get "proven right," because we've guessed every possibility based on shitty evidence. Someone will be "right" only because when we've collectively guessed every reasonable option, so someone's baseless guess is bound to line up.
Like that kid who guess "Alpha Ruby and Omega Sapphire." Hundreds of other potential names were guessed, but only this one even came close.
