At 11,329 for shiny Cresselia on white 2. I was hoping I’d have enough time to SR for a Registeel before ORAS, but I guess not.

Right now trying to clear off my friend list by looking at their friend safaris, I still have never gotten a shiny from those.

btw how soon until we are able to find out if ORAS has shiny-locked legendaries? There’s so many legendaries available there, including a few I wish I could have SR’d for. I hope they don’t lock them again :(

I dropped back into shiny hunting a few days after posting I was quitting here but that was for a different reason that ultimately made the quit temporary.

15 boxes into my Meditite hunt. The key is to take breaks. I'll sometimes spend an hour or so wonder trading my stock to see what I can get. Picked up a shiny Eevee and a Zekrom (0IVs, but still...) this way. Once a box or two is free, it's back to the Masuda grind, fresh and renewed.

Holy shit! I finally got my first shiny ever. Been playing Pokemon forever, and the only time I encountered a shiny was back in Crystal. Think it was a Hoot Hoot and I killed it. Anyways got a shiny Elekid. I was just hatching eggs because I promised to get my friend a 6 IV Elekid. I didn't notice it was shiny and I was about to release it since it only had 3 IVs, but I thankfully saw the star. Shiny Elekid sucks but I am happy either way.

That was the good thing about Hawlucha: No way to mistake the colors there.

My current ride, Scyther, is a bit worse, but the tan neck and thighs becomes a very recognizable maroon, so that's nice.

They breed an egg that gets the IV bonus and the masuda bonus when transfered back to game 1

Then breeding that game 2 hatched pokemon with a game 1 pokemon will give the Masuda bonus right?

You got it right.

The two from the first game with produce a child of the second game's language (ie. breeding two english pokemon in a spanish game with result in a spanish child being produced).

That child can then be trade back to the first game, where it breeding it with an english partner will give the masuda bonus.

It always confuses me when people say things like "5/11/15/20 boxes in and losing hope!" What exactly were you expecting, to get a shiny on the first egg? You should know that with the shiny charm, the average number of boxes needed to hatch a shiny is around 30. In extreme cases, it's taken 200 boxes. This is not really an activity you should take on if you have a lack of patience.

It remains unconfirmed. The Japanese wording of the item implies it does, the English wording implies it doesn't. Other languages flipflop too. I don't know whether or not dataminers have looked into it.

I personally believe it does affect them. It would be easiest to just edit a single index for all Pokémon generation than to have seperate indices handling slightly different values. It just doesn't make sense from a game design perspective.

As long as the parents are of different languages, the Masuda method is working. You don't NEED two different ones from your game, but it doesn't hurt. Or help. No need to go out of your way to change it, though, if you're mind ride.

You're only nearly the average halfway point anyway. I got a shiny around 504 eggs. 1000 is considered the baseline, if I recall.

A week before the announcement of M-Pidgeot, I hatched a pentaperfect shiny, physical Pidgey. I got back on the ride when M-Pidgeot was announced. This was after about 35 boxes.

(Yeah I know most the egg moves are physical, Pidgeot doesn't really get any good special egg moves right now)

Yeah, shiny Pachirisu! Wasn't breeding for a shiny but for a 5IV Impish Pachi with Volt Switch. Took around 6 batches to get it.
It has perfect IVs in HP, Attack, Defense and Sp. Attack.

I want one and I had two adamant 6IVs with egg moves in quick balls, so why not. Unfortunately, I think I've hatched around 40 boxes between this, a quick Vulpix hunt that ended when there was a giveaway, and a Cottonnee hunt that ended when I tried to trade the rejects and got shit on for Modest nature and no egg moves. Same with your rival. They don't get a go at the RNG lottery wheel like you do. The game simply gives them one of three sets based upon your starter.

There’s also chain fishing. You’re likely to get a shiny at around 40+ or so, chain fishing is so easy mode that people get pretty angry if you try to trade them for other shinies.

I still want to get a shiny in friend safari one day, I once tried to get an espurr for a friend but gave up after a while, this was before I got into SRing though. So I was pretty impatient.

Congratulations on the Aron, though! It looks awesome. Kind of sad you can’t transfer it, I still feel bad my shiny Meowth will forever stay in my silver game :( And my silver game is probably wiped out by now, wherever it is

Nah, chain fishing doesn't work like radars. You don't need to get the same pokemon through out the chain.

As long as there's a bite and you snag it, the chain is preserved.

So while this means chains are easy to build and maintain, it also means it's like the friend safari. You're not really assured the shiny you want even if you do it right.

Another thing you can do is horde battles, get a Pokemon with sweet scent and make it use that on the grass. You’ll get into a horde battle every time, and that sorta makes it more likely you’ll get a shiny since you’re getting five Pokemon at a time, even more with the shiny charm. I got a shiny hoppip that way.

Got a shiny Lotad off the GTS for one of my Regigigas. 6IV, Dive Ball, OWN TEMPO.

Which is fine, I just wanted a shiny today (yesterday?), and I wanted one to match my old Shiny Shiftry from 4th gen RNG Egg Abuse.

Speaking of which, are those calculators still up? I would rock that shit if they were, so many shinies I keep in a trophy box since they're legit but not obtained fairly.

I don't usually post on /vp/ anymore, but for the past few months I've been trying to hatch a shiny phione. I've hatched more that 1000 eggs by now, and still going strong. Phione is one of my favorite Pokemon and I will not give up.

Back in Gens 4 and 5 it was noticeable, but as of Gen 6 the color scheme is the same. Only difference is belly ring.
