Flareon's internal body temperature is incredibly high. The Pokedex lists temperatures of 1,650 or 3,000 degrees Ferenheit (which seems excessive, but this thing can launch fireballs so I'm not sure I have room to judge).
Supposedly its fur is used to radiate and regulate its heat. This basically means curling up with a fluffy radiator.
Assuming that its external body temperatures are nowhere near that extent, as it would simply catch the bed on fire, I think it would be handy to have it sitting on or near your cold feet on a cold night, and therefore the main reason why I always thought it would make the ideal pet.
