yeah, mainly those environments are way more impressive than anything in Pokemon. Pokemon does have 700+ detailed models for the creatures and the systems in the game are more complex, requiring more balance etc. Though. I do know that X+Y barely used up the 8GB max of a 3ds kart though.

Oh definitely.
I can chalk it down as GameFreak wanting to keep it simple, and it being their first 3D Pokemon game. Hated how dark everything was in XY, though, it really could have used some colour.

I hate how XY/ORAS models are constantly just motionless. Yes, they have little gestures when they speak or in cutscenes, but it's jut nicer to have them move while standing around. Like animations of them breathing rather than standing still and blinking. Which shouldn't be asking for too much. GF needs to realise they're not using sprites anymore and enter the 3D phase and take advantage of it all.

But Pokémon isn't realistic and any attempt to make it look realistic is gonna fail because it's on the 3DS. Stylised is a far better way to go.

Compare original Windwaker to Twilight Princess. TP may look more "realistic," but guess which one aged better even though the other is on a later console.

But yeah they are incompetent. MINECRAFT has better handling of items that cease to be for example (just removes them), while I'm betting Pokemon XY would likely crash horrifically if you somehow got, say, Swampertite on it
