Battle Frontier was one of the things that made Emerald one of the best loved games of the series. A cursory glance at the Internet PokeSphere would tell you that.

Are Gamefreak stupid enough to omit one of the best parts of Hoenn?

The thing that made Emerald great was the sprite animations.

The Battle Frontier was just a series of half-assed challenges set in place because GameFreak were too lazy to make an actual postgame. It's gone, it's not coming back, deal with it.

The Frontier was awesome because it gave players heaps of replay value. Getting those Symbols was very difficult.

Plus, rental pokemon were the shizz.

That's not replay value. The point of Pokémon is you start the game all over again and do things differently, the point if an RPG. You don't need a bunch of mundane challunjizz to keep you occupied until a successive game is released.

it was a poorly executed aesthetic gimmick that didn't add anything substantial to the experience

i seriously hope you're baiting because 400+ hours of postgame content is worth way, WAY more than some utterly lame 2 frame "animations"

Yes, but the Emerald animations lasted for only 2 seconds. Meanwhile in gen 5 you had to watch them for the whole battle

What if it's a timed release, like the stuff in the demo?

It was pretty cool how stuff changed after a certain number of days. Maybe they were showing that feature off? Being able to change things in-game without a patch or update or anything?

Wasn't the Battle Frontier really just a substitute because playing with a variety of human trainers was impossible? I mean I love me some battle frontier to ride the bus with, but we now have a system to do three-on-three battles literally at will with random people and different Pokemon each time. If we had this in the days of the GBA we would have shit our brains out.
Maybe we don't have a Battle Frontier because, deep down, we don't need it any more.
Not that I'm not pissed it's not here, but perhaps we should put it in perspective.

I was so pissed when people told me to play emerald because it was SO MUCH BETTER! than sapphire, when they didn't add any post game quests/areas, just a fucking frontier which wasn't THAT much better than platinums
