Swagger banned for the same reason evasion is, which is basically RNG abuse. People could take six pokemon with identical abilities, movesets and items and beat normal teams, it was stupid.

Aegis banned for not only being a ridiculous offensive powerhouse that itself can check most of the meta, but also because fighting it was a guessing game unless you were a special attacker or had Earthquake

Since EQ is probably the easiest way to check him, I don't understand why people complain. EQ is one of the most common offensive moves in the entire game. And people have trouble with that? Also burns are nice. Just run a fire-type or a ghost with a sash. nbd.

Can someone tell me the bad things about Smogon? I thought they took incredibly overused Pokemon based on statistics and put them into ubers to prevent 90% of teams from having them or something like that. There's obviously more to it than I know about since people are talking about voting and committees and shit.

Same thing with Smogon. Alternative =/= Better.

Ultimately, you'll never completely 100% agree with the meta. But it's much better than total anarchy, if that's what you're proposing.

What are you talking about? It has an election system for banning mons. It merely only allows players that have credentials to vote on what deserves to get banned, which is perfectly acceptable and reasonable. Every competitive game, no matter if it's a sport or a video game, needs to have some authority that decides on the rules. To have a group of experts literally anyone can join if they are good enough decide on the rules is loads more democratic than pretty much any system that exists for any other game I can think of.

Haunter didn't want aegis banned in the first place, he only agreed to a test after much discussion. Even then aegis wasn't going to get banned until the bandwagoning started, popular tour player CBB and forums fag Jukain started effectively "campaining" to get aegis gone for good. Depends I guess. I'm all for aegis to stay tbh, checks new mega powerhouses and now has more mons to be afraid of. Aegis will do what it always did, keep the meta from falling apart or devolving into all balance all the time.\

And I really fucking hate balance.

Sharp was aegis' best check, eventually high ladder mostly changed around the aegis sharp match up to the point where there were sets to counter sets that countered sets. To the point where 4 attacks lo naive aegis because standard to beat adamant sharp, then the advent of jolly sharp occured. Also you dont fucking sucker punch an aegis you knock it, even if it shields nothing happens because defiant.

Whether Pokemon benefit from it's ban or not isn't relevant to the ban discussion as a whole.
Just beecause banning aegis makes things like cham, starmie and hera more viable doesn't mean it should be banned because of that. Anyways the best mons are going to be the focus of the tier anyways that's how it works. Currently XY ou's best mon is lando-t, it favors balance and balance is currently the most popular playstyle. That's how metas work, aegis got banned mostly because of 50/50s as opposed to everything else.

My Aegislash is
Sacred Sword (dmg + coverage)
Swords Dance (boost while in defence/ waiting for check, made it hard for EQ pokemon to kill it)
King's Shield (pretty explanatory, defence form is great and it hurts physicals like smogonbird)
and Shadow Sneak (Stab + dmg from swords dance + priority to finish something off

Iron head i might switch for, for fairies.
I never really ran special attacks but shadow ball is p good

You gotta think, if you don't have something JUST FOR aegislash, he might win the game.

And remember, steel was nerfed from dark and ghost JUST FOR AEGISLASH
What were they even thinking?
