I started with Red, but was too young to know what the fuck I was doing. My level 100 Blastoise was all I really knew.
Silver was fun, I learned to vary my team, but, again, what the fuck was I doing? I just knew that Typhlosion was a beast, and that I could go back and visit Kanto.
Then came Gen 3, where I was old enough to understand and actually comprehend the game I was playing. I had fun, and I knew why.
This is why, even if it had been a straight 1:1 port over of R/S, I'd still be buying this fucking game. It's my "first", it's the one I have fond memories of, and I want to relive it.
