For tournament players, the subway/maison/etc. is actually pretty decent for finding obscure things that break your team.
It's also a great time killer that isn't as boring and repetitive as breeding, chaining etc.
And that's just the tower/subway/maison. The others give really fun gimmicky alternatives with great replay value.
Sure, a lot of it could be done better, but it's still a good thing to have in the game, and if ORAS doesn't have it I agree with the shitposters.
