Hey guys, I'm considering starting to play pokemon again (I played the shit out of Gens I to IV and got tired after playing D/P) but i don't own a 3ds. I saw that pic related will be sold for 129€ here in Spain and I was thinking about get in it. I just wanted to know if you think I should play XY, because i don't really think I'm gonna like the mons and probably the game is way to easy. Also, if i get this i'll miss really cool 3d effects or is just some details?

Like you I stopped after Gen IV.

I restarted with Gen VI, and XY was pretty shit. I then saw how well B2W2 was done, so I'm pretty sure we chose a bad time to stop.

If you really want this game, then buy it. ORAS doesn't have extensive use of the 3D unlike most games (and for the ones that do it's just a pretty gimmick). There's nothing to miss from XY, so go ahead.

Now, many people are getting disappointed from 6th gen as a whole, be wary of that. ORAS is not really fixing anything.

Get the game, but don't get the 2DS. You aren't missing out on the 3D, but you will be missing out on the portability. Please don't get a clear unfoldable slice of bread just because it's cheaper, I'm begging you.

Other games like Super Mario 3D land use the 3D effect very well but if you're getting one just for Pokemon you don't need it. XY doesn't do much at all with the 3D and ditto for ORAS.

Portability is not an issue, i would play it mainly at home and on the bus or train, and I always have my backpack.

The 3D looks like shit on most games and is unnecessary.
The transparent 2DS looks really nice, i got yesterday and i love it.
If you want to get back into Pokémon, you should definetly get one ORAS bundle with a 2DS. You could also give XY a shot if you are interested in the Kalos region. If not, just stick with ORAS for now, we will get a special Version of XY (Z) anyway with all the new Megas, Z-only Megas and i maybe even a new Battle Frontier.

Since we didn't get the Battle Frontier in ORAS, Gamefreak will see that there is a shitstorm right now and they are forced to make one for Z.

Bad optimization, the models aren't that good, frame drop and it's still the same shit over and over. The only difference and good thing would be that you actually have a stage to battle on.

It looks like that, but the 2DS really is the most comfortable DS right now because of the better balance.
The 3DS XL is kinda heavy because of its size and because you hold its lower part in your hands while the big topscreen is in the air (i hope you get what i mean).

The 2DS is more comfortable because the buttons are in the middle.

It might just be because I am a small person with small hands, but I prefer the weight and size of the 3DS XL lower half. It also feels very big and comfy. Half-fold to play while it's on a table top feels good too. I think you and OP might have more in common, though, preference-wise. If you guys genuinely love the look and feel of a 2DS, please don't hesitate to ignore me.
I don't want to hold a fellow anon back from getting a fun game or a system he'd find comfy.

Probably better optimised for the New 3DS, though. XY aren't, of course, but ORAS might be. The models are actually pretty decent, but limited by the 3DS' screen resolution.

I personally like the XL the best. The screen and the stereo are really a huge improvement over the smaller screen of the 3DS and 2DS. Not worth the money over the 2DS though. So I'd say 2DS is the best purchase. 3DS best system.
