Though I recall dialogue from B2/W2 that mentions it disappearing. I assumed they meant permanently, since it IS the Mirage Tower. Why mention that if it wasn't permanent?

yes. You got the Emerald gameplay, obviously with some tweeks to fit the standards of today, but more or less the same. Easy E4 and champion too btw. Then for post game you got round 2 of E4 and champion, Battle Maison and catching legendaries.

Then it's back to breeding and shiny hunting. Fun.

That's the point, you CAN do more with them in ORAS, you can play online.... There are even some pokemon like Crawdaunt and Breloom that suck colossal moose cock under gen 3 rules because that was before the physical/special split and they don't have any good physical stab moves, not to mention a ton of pokemon got awesome new abilities in gen 5, so even the pokemon you'd be playing with anyway are better.

If someone went through the effort then yes. Romhacking has gone a very long way. I can actually remember seeing an extended pokedex for Firered long ago with pokemon up to Unova and the split's been done. Ditto for day and night.
