They focused almost all their marketing on Megas, which would not be patched into XY.
They beat around the bush in regards to game content that we can actually, you know, play.
Turns out it's because there's isn't much beyond what they announced and they just want to get people to buy the game using their new gen gimmick which is really just them taking what they gave us before and spreading it throughout a gen (instead of giving 100+ new Pokemon designs at once, they give us like 60 and then space out other ones and call them a different name) to hype people up.
Sad thing is, it's probably going to work.
This is why we can't have nice things.
