It will be completely 3D with no forced point of view, you can look whichever direction you want, whenever you want. Also, the player character will be able to increase in level alongside the Pokemon. You will gain better tacking abilities to find rare Pokemon, higher catch percentages, etc.
You will also be able to customize your player much more detailed. Changing hair color, eye color, height, weight, skin tone, etc.
The world will become much darker to represent the aging Pokemon demographic. Pokemon die and can become evil when abused. The battles will be harder, the NPC's will be much more clever in how they organize their attacks and which types they use against you. Beating a gym leader will be an actual accomplishment, rather than an NPC who happens to use the occasion hyper-potion.
