>First, read this:

>How do I use the dexnav?
After you have caught a pokemon once, you can begin using the dexnav to search specifically for it. It is one of the tabs on the lower screen.

>What is the Search Level?
Having a higher search level for the pokemon you are sneaking up on will give you more information about it including:

Ability
Rare move
Level
Held Item
Potential

>I had a search level of 12 and now it's back down to 3, what gives?
Search levels are pokemon specific

>What is the Potential?
Potential refers to the number of 31 IVs the pokemon has, with a maximum of 3 green stars for 3 x 31 IVs

>Is having a higher search level better?
It is not confirmed yet whether increasing search level will also increase the rates that "good" conditions appear

>Can I use this for shiny hunting?
It is not confirmed whether the dexnav increases chances of shiny pokemon appearing

>How do I raise my search level?
Search level is raised by encountering pokemon. NPC battles and wild battles count (you can run straight away if you'd like and it will still count) as well as overworld pokemon, eg. Mr Briney's Wingull

>Which rare moves can be found?
All egg moves for a given pokemon can be found in dexnav encounters, though only one at a time

>How do I know which egg moves are for each pokemon?
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/

>Which abilites can be found?
Regular and Hidden abilites can be found on dexnav encounters

>I just got swept by a level 13 boomburst taillow near petalburg!
Dexnav pokemon can be a level much higher than the regular pokemon for that area
