Because while the main story and Delta chapter is done very well, the game does still have the very real problem of not having a lot of the cool stuff from 10 years ago (not just Battle Frontier, but stuff like going to the 2nd floor of Granite Cave earlier, Safari one working like an actual Safari Zone, Gym Leaders getting improved teams in rematches, holy shit why is that not here)

Its actually kind of annoying, its does so much stuff right but still fucks up on some fundamental things that could've made it literally the best games in the series. This is why I'm hoping that we get a patch that adds stuff instead of asking us to buy another 3rd version to get what should've have already been here.

i'm about a third of the way to the league (or it would be a third in RSE, dunno about ORAS) and i'm kind of underwhelmed. the orignals were some of my favorite pokemon games and seeing my favorite songs get gimped, all the handholding, and other stuff is just not doing it for me. from lightly skimming /vp/ though, and i say lightly because i'm trying to avoid spoilers, it seems like a good enough amount of people like it so, it kind of gives me hope. i really do hope it picks up and great stuff happens, i certainly see the potential in the games

One of the most content heavy games in the series and the fanbase generally a huge boner for Gen 2 thanks to all the goodwill its second region campaign created. I personally like Platinum better since it had better level balance and a much more solid region.

Also most of /vp/ started with GSC so it has nostalgia factor.

Honestly I've started with GSC too and I was super hyped for it. But I've ended up with "eh, I remembered it being better", so I've even ended up playing GSC again and discovered it was pretty shit actually. Worst fucking evil team ever too so the main plot wasn't even that interesting.

This, though I started with Red.

Going back to Crystal after the recent games I was "Wow, this is fucking garbage, even simply compared to the remake".

Granted I was 14 when G/S came out so I didn't have full childhood nostalgia, but man it does not hold up compared to say Gen 5.

Maybe it's just me, but I never did postgame shit. The second I beat the game I did 2 things

1. Play against my friends
2. Catch them all

And did that until the next gen came out....or in RS's case, until I got Golden Sun TLA, in which case I dropped pokemon instantly.
