It seems like the theory with the most evidence at this point is that it'll be added in the 3rd version of XY, going by the new Battle Chatelaine text that someone found in a thread earlier.

Exactly. They aren't the final games this gen, so no Frontier. Besides its not important anyway. They need to bring the Athalon back
