Pardon my ignorance, but how has becoming Fairy/Psychic changed Gardevoir's type matchups? I have a 5IV Modest Gardevoir from Gen5, so I'd like to know if it's still usable or if I should use another psychic type to fill my team.

Also, general-purpose Ralts/Kirila/Gardevoir/Gallade thread, I guess.

No egg moves, but Garde learns Dazzling Gleam (doubles, spread move) and Moonblast (single target), but for mega form you should pick up Hyper Voice in fifth gen if you can. Pixilate + Hyper Voice Megavoir = Stronk.

Get a hyper voice gardevoir from gen V. Once it mega evolves it becomes really strong. It's so strong it actually made gardevoir OU.

Really then. I'll make sure to hatch one and train it up for Mega Voice then -- can I get it, stop levelling it, then get Moonblast when I transfer it to Gen VI?

Also, is Special Attack+speed still good for IV training? Or should I be doing Special Attack+HP?

Use max speed and max special attack.

It's too physically fraile to take more than one physical attack and survive. You're main goal is to blow the competition away with hyper voice before it dies. It's best to use it on a stall pokemon since hyper voice can hit them through their substitutes.

Use either Hyper Voice or Hyper Beam, one of two.
Both become Fairy type when Mega Evolving, and personally i've taken out a lot of Special Walls with Fairy Hyper Beam.

It doesn't, but i've never come across a substitute user. Use hyper beam if you plan to stick to single battles. Hyper voice is better for a doubles team.

It's only for silly situations where you're casual battling against friends, it acts as a fantastic nuke that likely loses you your only mega but it's fun so that's fine

Hyper Voice is better in both singles and doubles. It's a 180 base power attack (after Pixelate) that hits past substitute and is resisted by a total of three types, two of which are really not useful or full of incredibly fail stuff.

You're giving advice to another person who wants to use it, you're supposed to be giving them evidence and thoughts that actually help them.

I run Hyper Beam Aurorus with my friends because it's hilarious, but I don't actively tell people to do that if they don't know any better.

I also used Hyper Beam, because it had no other options. Now it gets Hyper Voice so use that instead.
It really is a Pokémon that you can only use with friends, because it's trash in every other circle.

It's helped me on a lot of single battles. I personally recommend it. Just because you do things one way doesn't mean it's the best way. I don't claim Hyper Beam will work all the time, but it's almost always helpful in my singles team.

I even ran Blast Burn and Hydro Cannon on my Zards and Stoises, just because they were that much stronger and Accurate than Fire Blast and Hydro Pump. It's a handy last resort those moves. But then they gained Megas and those attacks became irrelevant. That's just how it works; alter yourself to relate to the changes of the game.

Mega Gardevoir is really good in VGC and competitively it's pretty decent in OU singles and battlespot.

Just because you're allowed a single mega and Hyper Beam is leaving your single Mega wide open to be killed next turn while hyper beam doesn't give you nearly enough power or achieve any kills that Hyper Voice wouldn't means that Hyper Voice is preferred for the sake of actually doing well in a battle.

You're claiming that Hyper Beam is viable as an alternative to Hyper Voice.

As for Hyper Beam/Blast Burn/Hydro Cannon, they're useful for when you're in a matchup you can't switch out of or fight back against. So you pull out your strongest one-shot move; it's the equivalent of using Explosion. You sacrifice yourself, but you can take down or at least wittle down the wall you're up against. It's also great as a last push to win, when littler moves wouldn't make the cut against their last Pokémon.
Like I said I don't use them anymore, because Megas make those tactics irrelevant.

Gardevoir fears steel more, but poison types besides Crobat and Mega Beedrill are all slow, nobody uses non-STAB poison because that's retarded, and poison types are all weak to psychic, which Gardevoir gets STAB on
