From basically revisiting Lumoise gym until the end, you can almost feel a bit of lowering in quality.
Those first few gyms were the fucking pinnacle of a singleplayer Pokemon experience for me. Goddamned 300+ Pokemon to encounter, decently challenging battles, varied areas, Rivals that didn't really get in your way or unnecessarily complicate things, just you on a goddamned adventure with added fashion. It was fantastic.
Half assing it to try to get back to BW tier storytelling was what killed it. You gotta commit on these kinds of things. Az just appeared three times and then you were suddenly expected to spit out feels.
The legendaries also sort of didn't make much sense and they missed so many fantastic opportunities in the game. Four fire type megas in Kalos and Lysandre, leader of team FLARE gets a fucking Mega Gyarados, the water Pokemon, when there is literally a fire and DARK type Mega introduced.
Goddamn it. None of the admins even did anything despite being so well designed.
I had fun playing it, but looking back, I guess I'd just say I'm disappointed with how it ended up. Still a good game I guess, but like, I'd really like to see XY remakes in Gen 9.
