>>21869774>>21869738It would be cool if the npcs were not so faithful in you, and instead praised your rival and gave them free mega bracelet and legendary while you were a step behind. And then halfway through the game you find a mega bracelet, maybe you even steal it or buy it for a ridiculously high price from some shaddy NPC, or win it off someone as a bet because they thought you couldn't possibly beat them.
And then suddenly people start to respect you more, but they still mention your rival..
At say the 6th badge, the antagonist team approaches you, saying they'd like your help fighting a trainer, they'll pay you well if you can win and even offer you free mega stone for agreeing to try.. And just guess who it happens to be. The 'chosen one' rival.
All of this leads up to a final battle, where you struggle against the overpowered pokemon of your rival, his/her's special egg moves, sudeo legends, and legendary that they got handed to them.
After you kick their ass because of their poor tactics, you'd be free to go ahead to the real legendary of the game. You may or may not be technically champ depending on if your rival is champ, either way they'd finally respect you.
Naturally the bad guys would betray you at this stage, but by now you're too strong to stop, too determined to hold onto everything you've scrapped together.
So you single handedly destroy the leader in a mega fueled battle of fury.
