>>21872064Before OR/AS, I decided to replay the lead up.
Yeah, I dug out my copies of FR and HG.
So I've played all three remakes in the last two months.
Here's what I say:
AS>FR>HG.
Yeah, I know, unpopular opinion, but i'm right, And I will tell you why.
HG had nice features, the longest story, and the worst EXP system, worst breeding, worst game engine. It's practically D/P/Pt slow. Every route turns into a prolonged grind because the gyms are double the level of the wild pokemon. Even if you are good, the game quickly becomes a drag as you grind and grind and grind and grind to get strong enough to face the next gym leader. And then you finish the game, and head over to kanto, where the wild pokemon aren't even worth grinding on.
And: despite the fact that it was a whole new region, with all of gen 2's new monsters, nearly all the pokemon from the first route onwards were just gen 1 pokemon being reused. You'd get one or two Gen 2 pokemon in the first four routes, and
How far do you have to go in OR/AS before you start hitting gen 1 or gen 2 pokemon?
Oh, and let's not even discuss how awkward EV training in this game can be. If your pokemon isn't already full up from grinding through
The only real nostalgia worthy element is the following pokemon.
Hate ORAS all you like, but they are better remakes than HGSS.
