I was planning on making some myself, but they look more like choux pastry to me that macarons.

Although I was going to make them out of cake because it's easier to do an exact replica of them in their original shape that way (not like those adapted cupcakes that still look gorgeous).

Here's some notes

-The swirled tops should be made of more of a whipped topping. These look to thick.

-Use frosting, not fondant

-Try using a candied lemon slice for the crescent moon..

-Coat the cakes BEFORE topping them. Or just use Macarons.

The technique isn't too hard, almond flour is expensive as fuck though. You could try to make your own, but I've not had luck getting the texture right due to the heavy almond oils.

I still peek in there from time to time, and I can confirm that this is 100% accurate.

Back on topic though, I'd definitely try the mocha. These are the kind of things I could see being made and then getting passed out at an anime convention or something.
