Next time, don't treat your inferences like they're fact. Maybe they did have to cut big stuff, pretty much every game development that isn't incredibly open ended or free to play ends up with something on the cutting room floor, either for time or scope. And even then, most developers know when they've done what they can and when to not try to over reach. But you're making leaps of logic that aren't directly supported except for your own bias.
Unless he comes out with something more specific, it's just as likely they decided not to have BF from the beginning than they had to cut the whole thing.
