Yeah, I was really hoping Maxie would have Claydol in OR, since Magma grunts have Baltoy in Emerald and Claydol is one of my favorite underrated mons. But no, he gets a Weezing instead. What the fuck? The guy is obsessed with the land, and yet he uses only one Ground type.

And yeah, it's even worse with Aqua since Hoenn is overrun with Water types. There's no excuse for them not using a wider variety.

Well I think they wanted them to be generic trainers that you had to battle normally instead of just putting a grass type at the start of your party and rolling everything. Agree they should have done more variety instead of constant cliche bad pokemon.
