When I was a kid my parents couldn't afford a Game Boy or a Game Boy Advance, so I used to emulate it. On my first job I bought my 3ds, shit felt good.
I didn't buy ORAS because I have a lot of other things to play and I'm not too fond of remakes. Yeah, the graphics are cool, but I've played XY, what's the fucking point.

Considering XY were announced in January of last year, you had 9 months to get a 3ds, with a further 11 months on top of that if you decided to skip XY and start with ORAS. In addition, the 2ds and various bundles should've given you plenty of opportunities to buy a 3ds by now. If you genuinely haven't been able to afford it by now then I sincerely hope your situation improves, but I've found many people acting like it's literally impossible to afford it when for most of us that isn't the case.
