I wasn't counting, but I think I started on Sunday or Monday? I've been doing it off and on. Go at it for half an hour or until I get really bored, stop, go do something else for a while, then repeat. Definitely over a few hundred, but I think a thousand is stretching it.

Weavile is good as well, since it gets some form of foresight (can't remember if it was that one or odor sleuth) in addition to false swipe so you can use it on ghosts

My first shiny wasn't something I found and caught.
But rather something I bred.
I got wonder traded a Feebas and I decided to breed it because my friend wanted one and he wasn't far enough in game to fish one yet I figured what the hay.
Imagine my surprise when that little purple fish popped out.
Gosh, I hope Milotic is a good water Pokemon.
It's a female, Impish nature.

I use Pangoro for false swipe and taunt because it has the ability Scrappy which allows it to hit Ghost types.

Get a smeargle with:
-Spore
-False swipe
-Soak
-(Optional) [Probably mean look, or swords dance, recover, etc]

People underestimate how useful soak is for catching: it lets you hit ghosts and it also helps when any pokemon's type resists normal. Has the bonus of taking away their STAB if they're hard hitters.

Also, silk scarf to power up false swipe.
