so was this the highest point of the pokemon anime? I cant see how it could get better, the Infernape vs Elektivire was the best match we've seen in the anime and I doubt there will ever be a better rival than Paul was

The Diamond and Pearl arc in general was the high point. The writers actually took the time to plan out what they were going to do, what Ash's final team was going to be, then they fleshed out all the characters and followed through. The only bad thing was the dub with too much Jimmy Zoppi.

I always thought AG was the highest point, as DP got really stale and dry during the middle, the beginning was good and the ending was amazing.
To me, AG was strong throughout the whole arc.
Kalos is looking real good too.

I'll have to check out those latest episodes then.I didn't really watch the BW series, but from what I got from it, Ash lost the league against a guy who didn't bring a full team to the battle and pulled a fucking Hydreigon out of his ass. To me that sound way worse than Tobias and his Darkrai or Latias back in the fourth gen

They were good indeed but too formulaic... Like, I hit, you hit back, I evade, you evade back, I hit again... And so on.

XY battles are god tier... Just go watch the battle where Fletchling evolves, holy shit it was intense. Also Mega Lucario vs. Pikachu, considering it's a freaking mega.

I always thought Ash vs Gary and Ash vs Harrison was the high point. The entire johto league was amazing in my opinion. Ash finally getting to beat Gary, and Ash's Charizard being an absolute monster.

Then again, I stopped watching after Ash's pikachu lost to Roark's Cranidos and then won in a rematch against Roark's Rampardos

Battle wise? Probably. I'm rewatching the Indigo league right now, and I think its the high point of the series overall. The characters seem so flat in the newer series. I haven't touched X and Y yet though so I could be wrong.

Darkrai should have been fucking floored by Mega-Horn. That was the worst written fight in the show, and such a shoe-horn of a guy who could Beat Ash's actually good team just pissed on his hopes for what purpose?

The worst part is that Ash actually thought about how to beat a Darkrai, looked through his collection of pokemon and hand-selected a perfect counter (A quad resistant Bug/Fighting that actually becomes stronger when sleeping via Guts). And then Tobias is like "not bad.... kid" and OHKOs back. No wonder Ash reverted back to a retard, he saw what happens when he becomes smart.
