We are just now having lore threads, but Pokémon always had DEEP lore. What happens to Shellder that clamp to Slowpokes? Are they evolved? Still Shellders? A form of Cloyster? Why have they not been Dex'd in over 15 years?

When it bites the tail, bacteria on the inside of SHellder reacts with some shit on slowpokes hide/skin/wahtever

so then the shellder falls off and slowpoke starts evolving into slowbro

In an old concept art book the shells were different with distinct shape and number of spikes, that would be great if they implement it next generation

Probably the new Shellder + new Slowpoke is what's needed for it to be a Slowbro/king through some reaction of Slowpoke's tail ooze. They evolve by being in contact with one another, the Shellder is just considered half of Slowbro, and when it falls off it also reverts back to normal. They can only achieve their new form by being together, and the new unit as a whole is considered Slowbro/Slowking.

It's been said various times (even recently, check the new Yadon site) that if a Shellder falls off the tail/head Slobro/king will revert back into Slowpoke while Shellbro will revert back into Shellder, and that's why they don't have their own dex entry.
